SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – The Antique Police Provincial Office (AnPPO), in coordination
with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and members of the Provincial Joint Security
Coordinating Center (PJSCC), has enforced Comelec checkpoints as part of its security measures for
the 2025 National and Local Elections.
The conduct of checkpoints started January 12, 2025 in order to prevent election-related violence,
enforce the election gun ban, and ensure a peaceful and orderly electoral process.
AnPPO Provincial Director PCol. Lea Rose B. Peña emphasized the importance of these security
measures: “The PNP is fully committed to upholding the integrity of the elections by ensuring strict
implementation of COMELEC checkpoints. We urge the public to cooperate with our law
enforcement officers as we work together for a safe and secure election period.”
Guidelines for Motorists at Comelec Checkpoints:
*Slow down and be prepared to stop when approaching a checkpoint.
*Turn on vehicle lights at night for proper identification.
*Roll down windows if requested by authorities for inspection.
*No unnecessary body searches will be conducted; only visual inspections will be performed.
*Individuals caught carrying firearms, deadly weapons, or illegal items in violation of the election
gun ban will be subject to legal action.
The PNP reminds the public that these checkpoints will be clearly marked, staffed by uniformed
personnel, and conducted in a manner that respects human rights. Any reports of abuse or
misconduct by law enforcement officers should be immediately reported to the PNP through its
official hotlines and social media platforms.
The PNP encourages all Antiqueños to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help
maintain peace and order during the election period. (Report from AnPPO)
