The Iloilo Provincial Government through the Iloilo Provincial Disaster
Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO-Iloilo) breaks ground
the new disaster resilience operations hub in Brgy. Malayuan in the
municipality of Ajuy on March 20.
The groundbreaking ceremony was graced by Iloilo Governor Arthur
Defensor Jr. along with Ajuy Mayor Jett Rojas.
In partnership with the Ajuy Municipal DRRMO, the facility will serve as
a command center during emergencies, ensuring the availability of
critical resources, rescue equipment, and trained responders to protect
residents, properties, and livelihoods in Ajuy and nearby areas.
Gov. Defensor stressed that the said initiative is part of the provincial
government’s commitment to improving local disaster response of local
communities in the province.
The resilience hub will also serve as a training ground for residents in
disaster management, helping them protect themselves and their
families during emergencies.
Mayor Rojas, on the other hand, higlighted the project’s significance in
improving the safety, reducing vulnerabilities, and strengthening Ajuy’s
capacity and resilience to face and withstand disasters.
