City gov’t, DSWD-6 ink MOA for poverty-reduction programs

The Iloilo City Government partnered with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) – Field Office VI in signing the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to implement poverty-reduction programs on March 25.

Mayor Jerry Treñas and DSWD-6 Regional Director Arwin Razo led the MOA signing for KALAHI-CIDSS, Pag-Abot Program, and the Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP).

Treñas stressed the importance of the said programs in the communities. He also expressed his gratitude to the DSWD for the KALAHI-CIDSS program which will benefit barangays like San Isidro in Jaro district that was represented by the acting Punong Barangay Ruby Gallano during the event.

The city mayor also emphasized the need for more potable water as the population growth increases and eyes to set up a water refilling station with the DSWD’s support.

Additionally, a Specific Implementation Agreement was also signed to implement the MOA.

The MOA for SFP was also signed which aims to provide extra food for children aged 2-5 in Child Development Centers (CDCs).

With a Php22.8 million grant, the program will benefit over 7,600 Ilonggo children in public daycare centers.

Razo also expressed his appreciation towards the city government’s commitment regarding the said projects.

Moreover, Treñas plans to secure an additional fund of Php10 million to ensure that every child in public daycare centers will be supported.
