The Iloilo City Government, in partnership with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) introduced its first ever Residence Rental Housing project in Brgy. Sambag, Jaro on February 4, 2026.

It was attended by Mayor Raisa Treñas, DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling, National Housing Authority (NHA) Regional Manager Engr. Rizalino Cabahug, Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor Area Coordinator Ms. Sheila Saplagio, City Councilor Mandrie Malabor, Iloilo City Local Housing Office (ICLHO) head Atty. Peter Millare, and Sambag Jaro’s barangay officials.

Set to open in 2027, the project—ensuring to benefit local communities—will provide a total of 362 units with a proposed rental fee of ₱850 per month.

During her speech, Mayor Raisa Treñas highlighted the significance of collaboration in addressing housing needs in Iloilo City.

“It is worth emphasizing that these housing projects reflect the strong partnerships we have with our national government agencies and the private sector—working hand in hand to deliver real, meaningful benefits to our communities,” said Treñas.

She also guaranteed that alongside DHSUD and other partner stakeholders, building additional homes will remain a top priority for the people, stating the commitment to continue with this initiative.

The project was made possible through DHSUD’s deposited funds coming from the mandatory deposits under the Balanced Housing Development Program. This initiative is also a part of the city’s housing solutions under the Rise-to-Action Framework.
